The joys of the creative and artistic process while searching to express and visualize a personal idea are the focus of this course. Exploring the image in it’s various stages; from the compositional chaos to structure and the development of colour and colour application, is key to understanding artistic concepts.
To help in the learning process a room installation will be present, which allows the participants to create interesting and new compositions by using it’s fantastic and visual complexity. The quest to discover “emotional space“ (ignoring the rules of perspective) through colour and abstraction can thus be better understood.

The techniques of screenprinting - also known as silkscreening or serigraphy - are easy to master. For this reason the emphasis of the course is not on the physical methods of the medium, but rather in its experimental and visual possibilities, which allow for the creation of especially colorful compositions.
Students will learn to freely apply the techniques of screen printing with the aid of individual technical instruction and artistic advice from teachers. The border between painting and screen printing is an open one, and students are permitted to make use of painting techniques during the course. You have the opportunity, using native sandstone, to gain experience and knowledge about the material, learn different stone carving techniques and to test your sculpting abilities. The choice of theme and whether to follow the traditional approach or to go with abstraction is discussed with every participant. Advanced participants are especially supported in the artistic areas. Goals and Timeline
The European Art Academy, Trier, offers a qualified Intensive Studies program in the field of Drawing and Painting. The knowledge gained here will greatly aid in the development of a personal and artistic work process.
The course Drawing and Painting will take place over 9 weeks, beginning 25 February until 25 April 2008. This course is reserved for anyone with interest and willingness to learn art. Lecturers teach daily.
The lectures are trained and professional artists, with longtime teaching experiences in their fields. The course material is split in assignments, working from the model, group discussions etc. Lecturers will offer critiques throughout the course.
The large well-lit studios and professionally equipped workstations are also available outside of class.
At the end of the program, students receive a certificate stating the contents of the intensive studies program and their participation. This will determine their participation in the Major program. ...read more
