Working in WoodWood Carving

Wood Carving

Content of this course is the artistic usage of the material wood. The three-dimensional objects created may be figurative or abstract. The participants develop together with the instructors working drawings that take into consideration the formal and functional aspects and the right work methods for the materials used. The realization of the three-dimensional idea is supported throughout the course on an artistic and technical level.

The combining of separate different pieces (doweling, gluing etc.) is taught as well as the working of the native wood (sawing, carving etc.). Through the use of saws, plane and wood carving tools the participants get to know the material wood better.

Another key point in this course is the treatment of the surfaces of the objects and sculptures. The difference between planed, coarse, rasped will be covered throughout the course; use of colour is also part of the course.
