Sculpture
Goals and Timeline

The European Art Academy Trier offers a special highly qualified nine-week intensive program in sculpture in 2007. the aim of the course is to give participants the knowledge over sculpting techniques and materials and let them develop their own artistic work method. To cover the vastness of three-dimensional expression, participants will learn both traditional as well as experimental techniques. Both the material itself as well as the aesthetics of three-dimensional objects allow for free artistic exploration of the medium.

The program is split into three segments. The first four weeks deal with figure drawing and sculpting in clay, constructing sculptures with plaster as well as wood, stone and metal. After the Easter course, lasting two weeks, the end of the course focuses on sculpting concepts and free expression. The last three weeks also further cover techniques and properties of the participant’s chosen material. Participants transfer concepts from paper into three-dimensional objects.

In large, well lit studios and the surrounding areas, professional equipment is available. The lecturer Peter Rübsam (Düsseldorf) is a trained artist and has long time teaching experience in the different fields of sculpture. Classes take place the entire and are taught by the lecturer and his assistant Anna-Dorothea Eiber.

The course is split into three segments:

  • Seminar I:
    Orientation
    Length: four weeks
Drawing for sculpture (nude figure drawing), sculpting in clay, armature building, information on materials
  • Seminar II:
For this two-week course participants choose a course from the Academy program. Options are wood, stone, plaster, clay and metal sculpting.
    The course fee is due.
  • Seminar III:
    Length: three weeks
Sculpting concepts and creative expression. The realization of participants’ own ideas into three-dimensional forms are key.

After the completion of the Intensive Studies program participants have to option to exhibit their work at the Art Academy. Even after the program is completed the Academy offers art history lectures, excursions etc. Participants will receive a certificate after the completion.

The administration of the European Art Academy is available to answer questions at any time.
